My Geisha Character

You are a Dreamer Geisha! You enjoy your life as a Geisha, but you can't help but feel incomplete and longing. You see normal women on the streets of your city, laughing as they cling to the arms of their husbands and the hands of their little children, and somber envy invades your heart. You appreciate your position in society, and are grateful to be a glamorous Geisha, but you still bear an empty hole in your soul. You often wish that you could experience the pleasures of being a beloved wife and mother for just one day, but you also do not want to leave the life of a Geisha. So, until tomorrow comes, you shall endulge yourself in your dreams.

Three Houses

I did these three houses in my 3rd year at Uni - they took 6 months to complete. The concept was the changing roles of women in the home in different eras.

Blog Header

This is the process of my blog header design. I drew the initial design and thought I might keep it black & white to contrast with the pink on my page. I then pulled out my old, dusty scanner not sure that it still actually worked and to my surprise it worked a charm. My hubby has been giving me some tit bits about how to use Adobe Photoshop so I got to work colouring the design to see how it would look. Nine hours later and I have the final design complete. I'm addicted to Adobe and can't wait to start on my next illustration. Stay tuned.

Warhol & Japan

ANDY WARHOL

For the past 4 months Brisbane has hosted the Andy Warhol Exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art. My friend Cecilia and I went when it first opened and this is our very own Warhol. I've been to the exhibition another 5 times on my own and with my art students. An amazing collection of his best known work and some I've never seen before.

WORLD EXPO - JAPAN

This photograph was taken at the World Expo in Nagoya, Japan in 2005. The colours of the sunset and the vegetation leap out of the photograph and the little Japanese girl sitting on the knomes nose was priceless.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION - I've just started my blog so stay tuned to see the improvements. R

Some of my artwork

TWENTY SOMETHING
This was the theme painting for my first solo exhibition. I had just returned from the UK and Europe and was trying to find myself again. It was called 'Twenty Something' because I would always tell my art students that I was twenty something when they asked how old I was.

SCREAMING WOMEN
These paintings depict woman who verbalise very destructive comments when it comes to their relationship, or lack of, with men. The comments by each woman are "I wonder if he's with another woman" (pink) "Mr Right! Where?" (orange) "What do you mean you can't offer me a relationship" (green), "I can hear my biological clock ticking" (blue) and "Why hasn't he called me?" (purple).
